Why make a Bequest to St John?

• People decide to make a bequest as a special way of saying thank you for the valuable work we do throughout the community.
• You ensure that an organisation that you love continues to thrive beyond your lifetime.

Making a bequest is simple and is not costly. There are two ways someone can make a bequest.

1. You can simply add a codicil (a single page document) to an existing will.
2. A will can be re-written so the gift is incorporated within the will.

Please consult with a qualified legal professional to ensure your wishes can be properly incorporated in your will.

But I've already written my will

People change their wills for a variety of reasons such as the birth of children, grandchildren or the loss of a loved one. Changing your will is a simple and relatively inexpensive procedure that a solicitor can easily arrange. Some people may prefer to purchase a will kit and complete the details themselves.

Useful wording

To include St John Ambulance in your will, we suggest you use the following wording.

I give to St John Ambulance (NSW) Inc. (ABN 84 001 738 370) the sum of $......... (or ........ percentage of my estate or ...... percentage of my residue of my estate) and declare that the receipt of its treasurer or other proper officer shall be sufficient discharge for my trustee.
