Our resources

St John Ambulance NSW provides coverage to emergencies across the state in addition to Event Health Services. Infrastructure is in place to support these services, which spans the entire state of NSW. Covering the largest and most diverse range of local and international major events, St John Ambulance NSW offers unmatched capability.

The equipment used by our responders can dramatically increase the patient outcomes following a serious medical incident.

Our assurance

Our members train, practice and work together at events and venues so no matter which part of the state they come from, they all work to the same high standards, under the same clinical governance framework.

Training and teamwork

    • We deliver consistently to the highest clinical standards because we require our people to maintain current training and accreditation. We even provide training in mental health, drug and alcohol intoxication, vulnerable people and mass casualty and incident management training. Most importantly, we don’t contract responders for your event. You will always get a consistent, trained, fully integrated, St John Ambulance NSW team.

Drugs, poisons and controlled substances

    • We're approved by the NSW Ministry of Health to purchase, hold and supply Schedule 4 and 8 drugs. Our responders practise within an authorised clinical scope and our Registered Nurses, Paramedics and Doctors are authorised to use the range of medications within their qualifications and experience.

Public liability, professional indemnity and product liability insurance

    • We hold comprehensive insurance cover for Workers Compensation, Public Liability, Product Liability, Professional Indemnity and Medical Malpractice.

Clinical governance and practice guidelines

    • We are governed by a number of clinical governance processes, including:

      • The National Medical Advisory Panel (MAP)
      • St John NSW Clinical Governance Committee
      • The Clinical Advisory Group

    • All St John NSW personnel operate under St John Australia’s National Clinical Practice Guidelines which ensures that each patient receives the highest level of care to achieve the best possible medical outcome. Our National Clinical Practice Guidelines are regularly audited and updated to ensure best practice and that we remain Australia’s leader in the field of pre-hospital care.
    • A Clinical Advice Line is available 24/7 to our members with the aim of helping with complex, unusual or difficult decisions around clinical care.
