  • Bag valve mask (BVM)
  • Legal and other requirements
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Assessment of vital signs
  • Levels of consciousness
  • Suction equipment
  • Maintenance of resuscitation equipment
  • Advanced bleeding

Duration

1 day plus mandatory pre-work.

Prerequisites

Pre-work is required.

If online mandatory pre-work is not completed prior to the course date, students will not be permitted to enter the class and will not receive certification.

You must hold a current statement of attainment in HLTAID011 Provide First Aid to participate in this course.

Certification

On successful completion of this course, you will be issued a statement of attainment in:

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy

The SafeWork Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the Australian Resuscitation Council recommend that first aid skills are renewed every three years, and resuscitation skills (HLTAID009/HLTAID0015) are renewed every 12 months. Please also refer to specific industry standards and guidelines.


Assessment Methods

We use a range of different methods to assess you, including written assessments and practical activities.
 
You will be required to demonstrate CPR on a manikin on the floor. You may need to pair up with another student to complete the practical exercises.
