Caring for Kids

Course description

This course is designed to meet the first aid needs of parents, grandparents, carers in the child care industry and members of the public who may be entrusted with the care of babies and children.

Course duration

One (1) day (8 hours).

Content

• resuscitation of an infant or child
• control of bleeding
• poisoning and acute illness
• management of shock
• wounds
• burns
• bites, stings

Prerequisites

Minimum age for participants is 14 years.

Materials provided

First Aid for Children and Babies Fast manual, one roller bandage and triangular bandage.

Classes

Conducted at most St John training venues or at work sites on request.

Certificate validity

Three (3) years.

Price

$100 inc GST

$1,500 / group

Assessment

Theory: 20 multiple choice questions, pass mark is 80%

Practical: resuscitation skills
