Industrial First Aid and Refresher

 

Course description

This course is designed for those who work in heavy industry where there are risks of serious and potentially life threatening injuries. This course is tailored to meet individual worksite needs.

 

Course duration

Industrial First Aid Course, three days.

Refresher, one day.

 

Content

  • major trauma
  • automated external defibrillation
  • administration of analgesic gases (where authorised to use it)
  • advanced resuscitation
  • extraction of casualties and treatment of serious injuries (e.g. crush injury, burns, abdominal or pelvic injury)

 

Administration of Nitrous Oxide can be taught on request to authorised persons.

 

Prerequisites

Nil for full course.

A current Industrial First Aid Certificate is needed for the refresher.

 

Materials provided

Australian First Aid manual, bandages.

 

Classes

Conducted at worksites on request.

 

Certificate validity

Three years.

One year for Advanced Resuscitation, AED and Analgesic Gases and CPR.

 

Price

$425 inc GST

 

Assessment

Theory: multiple choice questions, pass mark is 80%

Practical: CPR and advanced resuscitation skills, casualty management skills, administration of nitrous oxide, administration of methoxyflurane, use of automated external defibrillator, use of oxygen delivery systems.
