Occupational Health & Safety Consultation

 

Course description

This course in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Consultation has been developed by WorkCover NSW to meet the training requirements for OHS committees and representatives as stated in the OHS Regulation 2001.

 

It aims to familiarise committee members and representatives with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply the principles of workplace consultation as an integral part of an effective OHS management system (OHSMS). The course also assists in the development of appropriate attitudes to enable committee members and representatives to effectively carry out their functions under the OHS legislation.

 

Course duration

Full course four (4) days (24 hours).

Topic 1 - Workplace Health and Safety

Topic 2 - The Role of OHS Consultation in the Workplace

Topic 3 - Effective OHS Consultation in the Workplace

Topic 4 - Systematic Management of Health and Safety

Topic 5 - Action Learning Exercise

Topic 6 - Continuous Improvement of OHS Systems

Topic 7 - Summary and Conclusion

 

Prerequisites

Nil (There are no provisions for recognition of prior learning).

 

Materials provided

Participant's handbook.

 

Classes

Conducted on request for groups.

Scheduled courses for individuals at St John House, Surry Hills.

Participant numbers are limited to 20.
