Become a volunteer
First Aid Volunteers in New South Wales First Aiders volunteer their time to provide First Aid services at community, sporting and cultural events. These events include New Years Eve, Australia Day celebrations, Big Day Out, football games, ANZAC Day and many others!
Adult volunteers First Aid volunteers learn and practice First Aid, family care and other subjects to enhance their life saving skills. Volunteers can attend training courses to learn advanced First Aid and life saving skills, communications, leadership training and participate in special event training such as major incident management courses.
To join an adult group, applicants must:
Volunteers meet regularly to continue learning and to gain new skills.
Juniors/Cadet volunteers St John Juniors/Cadets are part of a national youth organisation. Members develop extensive First Aid skills, life skills, communication and leadership skills. Once they are trained members may attend First Aid duties under adult supervision. Juniors/Cadets may attend various excursions and camps during the year.
Many young volunteers have found St John Cadets to be a valuable stepping-stone for careers as an ambulance officer, nurse or in medicine.
Joining Fees There are no joining fees.
Ongoing Training All volunteers receive free advanced training in First Aid. Some of the courses offered include Advanced First Aid, Advanced Resuscitation, Analgesic Gases and Semi-Automatic External Defibrillation.
Uniforms First Aid volunteers wear the distinctive black and white uniform.
